Oz part 2 - Canberra to Eden

Here's Mum and I on the bikes. Tough ride down to a beach near Eden with Mum and Dad. 10km mostly straight near the vertical.

Dingo prints on the beach.

Wild Surf

Just through the bushes --- an amazing campsite like a golfing green. We used to drive the skyline down here when we were kids (well when us kids were kids anyway)
Nearby pond
More tough travel
Snugglepot and Cuddlepie's a plenty
This was the only litter on the beach. Might be from a Japanese fishing boat? (anyone recognise the writing?)
We were the only visitors to the beach in 4 days. No human footprints to be seen
That's not wee in the water. Just the natural tannins from the surrounding bushland. OK perhaps SOME wee from its furry inhabitants.
Nature provides. Cut timber for the beginnings of my humpy on the beach
Banksia cone on the beach. Used to think these looked like hundreds of sleepy eyes
En route to the campsite from the beach (I'd put these chronologically, but this blog site isn't made for photos). Quite haunting, with bizarre birdsong and rich earthy smells. Blink and you'd miss the entrance. Actually Dad did lead us the wrong (very scratchy) way at first.
If you know where to clamber, there are rock caves to explore.
Amazing stuff. There were hundreds of bats inside as well. Miniature flying insectivores
And the surf pounds away, even if no-one's watching

Another wee pond.
We then flew back to Canberra for the weekend like a galah
Julia has a present
Hutcho keeping it real for the people on the streets
Me, Damian, Sarah and John in front of the lights of Canberra (well it was either us or the lights)
This was an excellent tree near Eden. As I said, its tough getting these photos in order so I've just given up
